Biography
nemu*nemu by Audra Ann Furuichi and Scott Yoshinaga

What would it be like to see the world through fresh eyes?  Created by Audra Ann Furuichi (b. 1978) and Scott Yoshinaga (b. 1970), nemu*nemu features two stuffed toy dogs who uncover the extraordinary in everyday life along with their human owners.  Blending Japanese manga, American comic strips, and references to “local” Hawai‘i culture, nemu*nemu reflects a global trend.  Artists incorporate geographic-specific stories and cultural images while fusing traditional styles and new visual languages.Posted regularly to its website, nemu*nemu is available free of charge.  Known as a “webcomic,” the format is popular with young artists because it allows more freedom than print book requirements for presentation, format and distribution. Since its debut in 2006, fans around the world support the webcomic by purchasing nemu*nemu merchandise including stuffed animals, T-shirts and art books.
